Giles has started Fernmark. The concept started because Giles could see a better way of building. His idea started as a complete ground up rethink of every single aspect of how homes are constructed. One of his key aims was to reduce the need for skilled labour from the building process, he wanted to be able to build himself a house with his two sons. As we have developed the design we have maintained this goal as much as possible.

Giles was in advertising and graphic design for many years before starting his chocolate business which is also based out of Wanaka.

Jana already worked for Giles in his chocolate business in Wanaka. Before Jana moved to New Zealand, she has worked for a construction company, selling and marketing Gypsum Fibreboards for seven years back home in Germany and to the international market. She saw Giles working on the housing concept in the office and got more and more interested. It seemed to be something in the family since her dad built the family home back in Germany as well. “Building the Future” and helping people to find a new and affordable home in New Zealand is way more challenging but extremely satisfying for Jana.
